As a paediatric therapist who loves using storybooks in my work, this instantly earned a permanent spot on my bookshelf! Bucky the Bunny is unique in that it provides a very soft introduction to neurodiversity -

The story and its gorgeous illustrations are easy to follow, with lots of natural stopping points for inferencing and for starting conversations about social differences, regulation, self-advocacy, perspective-taking, and teamwork. The educator addition, with extra information about autism and a pre-written lesson plan for teachers, is well thought out, with various activities to help students and their families explore and understand that different is not less.

Bucky the Bunny should be a go-to for early childhood social-emotional learning curricula in schools and homes alike :)

As a Speech Pathologist, it can be challenging to find resources that introduce neurodivergence to young children in a way that feels accessible, age appropriate and practical. Bucky the Bunny is my new go-to book to help have these important conversations.

I love the familiar Sydney illustrations and how the story goes beyond simply explaining neurodivergence. I am able to talk to children about practical ideas for how they can understand, include and connect with their neurodivergent peers. I especially love the child (and adult!) friendly information, questions and conversation starters at the back of the book which helps further conversations beyond the story. It means I'm able to have conversations with my 4 and 14 year olds alike. A must have for your clinical tool kit!

Bucky The Bunny is the most beautifully written and illustrated book depicting the everyday life of a little neurodivergent boy. As a mum of a neurodivergent boy myself, it was an emotional read filled with proudness and joy and of course the understanding of the things that are sometimes overwhelming. I would recommend this book to every type of family. Those that understand, and those who want to learn to understand. A must read for all.

What a lovely book. I read it to my Grandchildren and we discussed it afterwards. We talked about how we all need some time alone to sit for a while and that some kids need a bit more. I’m donating the soft cover to my Grandson’s kindergarten so that all his friends can hear Bucky’s story too.
